(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Apple launched the latest version of its Macintosh operating system recently, unleashing OS X Mountain Lion to millions of Macintosh enthusiasts. The OS is available for download through the Mac App store at an asking price of $19.99.
The version’s availability follows the release of MAC OS X Lion around one year ago. Newly introduced features include a notification center, further integration with iOS by adding iMessage, the ability for the computer to update while it’s sleeping, download client Gatekeeper and a word to text converter known as Dictation.
Meanwhile, a report from Chitika noted that the OS had already captured 3.2% of Macintosh share within its first two days. “It is rather impressive for an operating system to capture 3.2% of market web usage after just 48 hours on the market. Such figures are likely supported by a relatively low price point for the operating system as well as an expansive list of desired feature improvements,” commented the analytics company.
Apple recently made big news in its Macbook line by introducing Macbook Pro featuring Retina support. On Friday, a Reuters report signaled that the company would buy AuthnTec, a creator of fingerprint sensors.
