(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Game conference PAX East recently drew to a close. During it, something of particular interest to Blizzard fans was showcased: Diablo 3 running on a PlayStation 3 console.
Before you think “WHAT?!” Consider this: Blizzard has a history in console gaming. You might have to look back a ways, but it’s true. Starcraft 1 was released for the Nintendo 64 in 2000 while Diablo 1 was released for the PlayStation back in 1998.
So what’s interesting about the PS3 version? The PlayStation version won’t have cross-compatibility with Blizzard PC platform Battle.net – as confirmed by a Battle.net community manager. Instead, a local co-op (up to 4 users) will be in the mix along with new boss scenarios and a new inventory system, according to a report from the International Digital Times.
Diablo 3 first launched for PC in May of last year and has already sold more than 12 million copies.
