(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – PlayStation 3 owners can now rest assured that their consoles will not be rendered obsolete any time soon.
Sitting down for a recent interview with Gamespot.com, Sony VP of hardware marketing John Koller commented on the PS3’s future, saying, “A lot of great content is coming. And over the next 2-3 years, the PS3 has got an incredible lineup.”
Koller’s comments arrive shortly after reports indicated Sony had revamped its PlayStation 3 to include two new console offerings. Both slimmed down, one features 12 gigabytes of flash memory while the other provides 500 gigabytes.
Such an indication, however, does not necessarily mean Sony won’t be releasing a next generation console in the near future. Surprisingly, some new games continue to be developed and sold for the PlayStation 2, a device initially launched around 12 years ago. PlayStation 3 was made available in late 2006.
