(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – PLUMgrid Inc., the leader in virtual networking for OpenStack® clouds, today announced industry veteran Larry Lang has been named chief executive officer, effectively immediately. Founder Awais Nemat has been appointed chairman of the board of directors and will continue to support the company’s growth in the rapidly expanding SDN/NFV market. He will work closely with Lang to ensure a seamless transition of leadership responsibilities.
Virtual networking is a crucial component of next-generation cloud data center transformation. Among startups in this space, PLUMgrid is well positioned with production-proven solutions that have been deployed in more than 70 clouds worldwide.
Lang has held executive positions including president and CEO of Quorum Labs, vice president and general manager of the mobile internet business unit at Cisco Systems, and vice president of product management at Ipsilon Networks, now part of Nokia. His board service includes Violin Memory and previously BelAir Networks, now part of Ericsson.
Nemat, who founded PLUMgrid four years ago and served as CEO, has been appointed the strategic role of board chairman and will continue to foster and support the growth of PLUMgrid.
“Enterprises and service providers are excited by the business transformation made possible by cloud data centers and software-defined networking,” said Lang. “PLUMgrid’s innovation in secure virtual networking is unmatched in providing customers the scalability and agility they require. It’s a privilege to join the PLUMgrid team, and I look forward to leading the company and working with our customers and partners.”
“OpenStack adoption among our target markets is accelerating rapidly,” said Nemat. “Our strategy to launch the next phase of growth is centered on bringing aboard a CEO who could leverage our innovative technologies and reference customer wins into broad market adoption. We are pleased to have Larry onboard and look forward to working with him to expand market adoption.”
“Awais made tremendous contributions to defining our engineering culture, product strategy and launching to market,” said Don Listwin, PLUMgrid board member. “We’re grateful to Awais for his leadership and vision, and look forward to him being the chairman of the board.”
