Prototype of Apple's First-gen iPhone Sells For $1,500 on eBay(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) –  One of Apple’s first iPhone engineering prototypes was recently sold on eBay for $1,500, Business Insider reports.

The prototype listed by Australian eBayer ,Applefancollector, comes equipped with the initial iOS system that was designed to test the  hardware functions of the phone.

Additionally, the signal strength values are etched on the backside of the device, showing version “1.1.1” along with the signal bands of the phone’s Bluetooth, WIFI, and four GSM bands.

“Most of these devices were scrapped, so it won’t come rarer than this,” states Applefancollector regarding the description of the device.

“The device itself is in near mint condition, apart from a very tiny mark in the back. Technically, the device is also perfect. It passes all tests perfectly.”

Phone calls cannot be made from the phone and it currently does not run on a full version of iOS in “its current state.”
