(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Will Sony’s PlayStation 4 feature a DRM that complicates pre-used game sales? If so, gamers want no part in it.
While it’s nowhere confirmed that the PS4 will feature such a thing, worries recently sparked a pretty impressive campaign by gamer activists.
The hash tag #PS4NoDRM has made plenty of appearances on Twitter as of late. That’s in addition to an increasingly popular post made on the forum NeoGAF, according to a report from The Next Web.
Employees of Sony have commented on the matter while neither confirming or denying anything.
“This is why I love PlayStation fans- the passion bucket overflows #playstation,” responded Sony PlayStation Head of Hardware Marketing John Koller via Twitter, according to Gameranx.
Nick Accordino, a producer at Sony Computer Entertainment had this to say via Twitter: “Humbled by the outpouring of passionate PlayStation fans and their willingness to talk to us directly. Please know that we hear you.”
Will the passion of fans be enough to sway Sony regarding DRM? Only time will tell.
Sony, meanwhile, is planning to unveil the visual hardware for the PlayStation 4 on 6/10. While no definite release date has been announced, the PS4 is expected arrive in time for the Holiday season.
