(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – A significant company acquisition could be on hand for Dell. According to a recent Reuters report, the computer giant has bid a total of $2.32 billion for Quest Software, a company specializing in IT management solutions.
The same report cited two potential buyers. Aside from Dell, the other included a collaboration headed by Venture Partners, a private equity firm.
Specific services covered by Quest include database management, Windows Server management, performance monitoring and more.
Meanwhile, Reuters noted that shares in Quest Software had risen to $27.61 this morning. That represents a 5.3% increase. While not admitting who the possible buyer was, Quest did confirm via its website that a bid constituted a “superior proposal” for $27.50 per share. Earlier this month, the company noted that it had begun preparing its virtual desktops for the upcoming release of Microsoft’s Windows 8.
