(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – R1Soft, provider of Continuous Data Protection® (CDP) backup and disaster recovery software for Hyper-V virtual machines and Windows servers in the Cloud, will for the first time showcase its CDP technology at the annual Microsoft Hosting Summit. This year’s event runs from March 29 to 31 in Bellevue, Washington.
The Microsoft Hosting Summit is intended to foster innovation and growth by bringing together industry leaders for networking and idea sharing. In the spirit of the event, R1Soft’s presentation will center on the benefits hosting and Cloud services providers can derive from R1Soft CDP. In particular, R1Soft will highlight its newly redesigned Enterprise Edition and the recently released Advanced Edition products. Both offer providers immense opportunities to add-value and generate additional revenue through CDP backups.
“For several years, we’ve heard great things about the Microsoft Hosting Summit from partners and friends in the industry” explained David Wartell, vice president of R1Soft, a division of BBS Technologies, Inc. “Having recently released our CDP 3.0 products, which offer enormous benefits to Cloud and hosting services providers, R1Soft has a lot to contribute to the Summit’s dialogue.”
R1Soft Continuous Data Protection® for Hyper-V virtual machines and Windows servers utilizes asynchronous block-level tracking to efficiently replicate and store disk changes. Once the initial data replica is created, automated CDP synchronizations replicate only block-level changes since the last synchronization, significantly shortening backup windows. The point-in-time snapshots (recovery points) that result represent virtual full backups and require a fraction of the storage space. Continuous Data Protection® also provides online CDP for MS Exchange and MS SQL Server through MS Volume Shadow Copy.
Those familiar with the previous generation of R1Soft CDP will be especially interested to know that CDP’s Bare-Metal Restore capabilities are even faster and more efficient in CDP 3.0, a feat achieved by leveraging new performances capabilities in Windows 2008 R2. Bare-Metal Restore is a disaster recovery feature that completely restores the disk’s file system and allocated blocks, typically with greater convenience and in less time than a file-by-file restore could.
