Rockstar Says GTA V Beta Is A Scam That Installs Malware On Your Device

Rockstar Says GTA V Beta Is A Scam That Installs Malware On Your Device(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Rockstar is warning users that if you have received a GTA V beta for the Xbox One, PS4, or PC then ignore it because it is a scam.

“Please note: There is no pre-release ‘beta’ test for Grand Theft Auto V. If you see ads or solicitations to join a beta program, beware as this is likely some type of online phishing scam,” says the developer on its website.

According to the Inquisitr, there have been reports that some PC users who downloaded the beta received 19 gigabytes of viruses and malware on their computers from sites such as grandtheftauto5beta, gta5betacode, getgtavbeta, and betagtav.

Take-Two is actively working on shutting down the sites that claim they have the beta.

GTA V will launch on November 18th for the new consoles, followed by a 2015 release for the PC.
