(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – The long awaited era of smartwatch devices has arrived. On Wednesday, Samsung debuted its GALAXY Gear, a watch with a 1.63 inch display.
Describing GALAXY Gear as a “companion device,” Samsung noted in a press release that the smartwatch “further integrates the Samsung GALAXY experience into everyday life.”
Primary features of GALAXY Gear include voice operation to make hands-free calls, a 1.9 Megapixel camera, Auto Lock (lets users lock their phones) and something called “Find My Device,” the latter of which allows users to locate their missing phones by hearing a beep.
“Samsung’s ongoing smart device innovation leadership reflects our commitment to listen to our consumers, who want their daily lives to be easier and more enjoyable. Samsung GALAXY Gear benefits consumers by integrating smart device technology even deeper into their everyday lives, and bridges the gap between the mobile device and fashion worlds to create truly wearable technology,” commented JK Shin, head of Samsung Mobile Communications via a press release.
GALAXY Gear will be available in six colors including Jet Black, Wild Orange, Mocha Gray, Lime Green, Rose Gold and Oatmeal Beige upon its release on the 25th of September.
