(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Hold tight people. If you’re looking to unlock the Galaxy S4’s bootloader, you’ll just have to wait a bit longer.
According to a Tuesday report from Phandroid, Dan Rosenberg, the guy who previously succeeded in unlocking the GS4 on an AT&T version of the phone, is waiting for Verizon’s release before sharing his method.
So what’s the reason behind the wait? Delaying the release of the exploit would stop Verizon from being able to patch the bootloader before the GS4 arrived in stores.
The unlocking of smartphones has proven controversial – albeit it’s not necessarily something that’ll likely to land you in “legal trouble.” Interestingly enough, in March, the Obama administration emphasized its belief that mobile unlocking should be made legal, something that contradicts a previous consumer ban.
