(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Samsung released its newest smartphone to all major wireless networks on Friday, giving users the chance to finally purchase the Galaxy S5 after months of spec leaks and rumors.
As of April 11th, the Galaxy S5 is officially on sale in 125 countries, on all major US carriers, and various retailers like BestBuy, Walmart, and Amazon, states a press release from Samsung.
The device was first unveiled late February at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, where the South Korean giant announced the many features the new smartphone would have.
The Galaxy S5 features a 5.1-inch HD screen with a 16-megapixel camera and a Finger Scanner that allows users to unlock the device and also make safe mobile payments.
Samsung opted to promote a healthy lifestyle in the device by adding a personal fitness tracker, pedometer, diet and exercise records, and a built-in heart monitor that works by holding a finger on a sensor on the back of the phone.
One of the most talked about features is the water and dust resistant element of the device. The S5 can withstand up to 30 minutes in a meter of water.
The Samsung Galaxy S5’s new “glam look” comes with a perforated pattern on the back cover, which comes in four colors, charcoal Black, shimmery White, electric Blue, and copper Gold.
