Sega's "Core Sonic Team" Developing A Traditional Sonic Title Different From Sonic Boom (Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – A new Sonic game is in the works, and no, it’s not Sonic Boom.

According to Escapist Magazine, the “core Sonic team” is working on a new title that will bring the traditional elements of Sonic back to the game.

“At the moment, the core Sonic team at Sega is working on a new title that will use the traditional look and mechanics of the series, which will get more details later during the year,” said Sonic’s Takashi lizuka.

Lizuka went on to explain that Big Red Button’s version of Sonic, Sonic Boom, is “designed to accompany the delivery of a new range of toys and new cartoon series.”

Sonic Boom features Sonic and his friends Tails, Knuckles, and Amy, each sporting a new redesigned look that matches their personalities.

Sonic Boom was announced in early February by Sega as the official title for Wii U and Nintendo 3SDS. The game is expected to be launched later this year and will feature new merchandise and a TV series.
