(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – Mozilla, well known for its Firefox web browser, may just be getting ready to make a larger mark in the area of mobile technology.
The company is said to be developing its own mobile operating system which could possibly rival the likes of Google’s Android OS. Despite the news, the project is still in the early stages of development.
The project is called Boot to Gecko (B2G) and according to a site outlining the concept, work on B2G will focus on matters including not only apps, but booting, web API’s, and privilege models.
It’s big news for a market that’s currently dominated by the Android OS (which runs on various platforms across a large scope of cellular devices). Meanwhile, Apple’s iOS is only specific to Apple products such as the iPhone and iPad.
