(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – A Middleborough father is warning parents to be aware of sexual predators on Minecraft and Xbox Live after he discovered sexually explicit messages sent to his six-year old son.
According to the DailyMail, the father discovered the audio and written messages sent to his son when he went upstairs to check on him after he heard a man’s voice coming from the room. He explains that his son ran out of the room telling him not to go onto the game.
“The comments were made by this person thinking he was talking to a little girl and they get more and more vile as they go on,” said the father.
The son suffers from Asperger Syndrome, in which he doesn’t fully understand the severity of the issue and the dangers that children face from online predators.
“He has Asperger’s so he doesn’t really understand the dangers. He thinks everyone’s his friend…He’s really upset at the moment because his “friend” might go to jail.”
“I’ve had people saying things to me about how he shouldn’t have been on Xbox Live by himself, and I hold my hands up to that I made mistakes,” continued the father. “I didn’t even think you could use that for chat. I’ve now been taught how to make it safe and ill be doing that before he gets the Xbox back.”
Currently Cleveland Police are investigating the report.
