(Ping! Zine) – In a blog post on Wednesday, Skype’s chief information officer Lars Rabbe claimed that last week’s outage that shut down service for millions of users occurred from a Skype software glitch for computers running Microsoft Windows.
According to reports, Rabbe announced the issue began when several servers that were running offline instant messaging overloaded. Skype’s older software then proceeded to delay responses from these servers, which crashed Skype.
The outage reportedly effected nearly 20 percent of Skype’s 124 million monthly users.
