(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – It has been confirmed that Sledgehammer Games will develop the next installment in the Call of Duty franchise, reports Digital Trends.
In a three year rotation with developers Treyarch and Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer is set the release the new game in 2014.
“For the first time, this years Call of Duty game, and future Call of Duty games, are being built on a three year development cycle,” revealed publisher Activision. “There are several advantages to doing this, the first is, of course, quality. This will give our designers more time to envision and to innovate.”
This would put Treyarch as the developer for a CoD release in 2015, followed by a 2016 release from Infinity Ward.
In a post-release conference call, Blizzard CEO, Bobby Kotick, stated that he expects the 2014 Call of Duty to be “one of it not the best” games ever in the series.
