(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – Nowadays, brands are employing social media in all means, which range from easy promotions and marketing to diligent communication with clients. As the public today has got the independence to point things to brands straight, several businesses are experiencing difficulty keeping up. No more than 20% of user comments produce brand responses on social networking sites, and also the typical response-time is over 11 hours, based on the latest eMarketer research. This communication gap in social media produces possibilities for startups to create marketers’ jobs much easier.
Socioboard, an India-based startup, is one of many new companies trying to fill this gap. It aspires to reproduce Hootsuite’s success by giving a brand administration tool aimed at the cluster of smaller businesses. Looking forward, Socioboard – which was launched in December 2013 – wants to increase globally and compete toe to toe with the big boys like SproutSocial or Hootsuite in a US$1-billion market.
Socioboard CEO Sumit Ghosh tells that right now the product is scaling. All the basic & advanced features are now active and running. Considering the fact that Twitter and Facebook are the two leading social networks in India, Sumit says that the startup’s eight-man team is focusing more on these two platforms along with 12 different social media platforms on Socioboard”. He further added, “Our customer acquisition strategy would be guided by appropriate lead management for prospects acquired through landing pages, social media networks, content marketing, email marketing etc. Our SaaS product has a freemium model so customers are free to try first and then upgrade to paid plans”.
Unlike Hootsuite, which restricts features centered on the user’s subscription plan, Socioboard allows all its features on its free plan. Though, it distinguishes each plan by restricting the amount of social media accounts that the user can handle. Aside from the free plan, the cheapest plan starts at US$ 4.99 and allows subscribers to manage 10 profiles with 24/7 support and training. The more expensive one at US$ 99.99 allows for managing up to 50 social media profiles.
Among Socioboard’s main features is Content Discovery, through which user can search content on around five various social networking platforms and share it with their own accounts. This is sensible for small company who don’t possess the assets to hire someone full time only to manage all their social networking channels. With this social media management tool, users can quickly discover content that pertains to their companies and schedule that content to show on their own social media accounts at planned times through the week.
Currently, Socioboard has around $21,500 from white label agency license sales. Sumit adds that the primary issues in operating Socioboard in India is the lack of awareness that social networking is a superb tool for a small business’ advertising campaigns. “The industry must be educated. The customer must understand the power of social media,” he concludes.
