(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – Hosting provider SoftLayer today unveiled details regarding the expansion of its services to the European market.
With its expansion, the company has invested $75 million, which includes the opening of the company’s headquarters in the region along with a new data center facility, both located in The Netherlands.
“Given the overall size of The Netherlands compared to the rest of Europe, this country is one of the most advanced in terms of Internet infrastructure and networking. We’re seeing a thriving community of both established digital entrepreneurs and start-ups here,” stated SoftLayer Europe GM Jonathan Wisler in a company press release.
“There is a terrific buzz, particularly in Amsterdam, amongst digital professionals. It’s exciting, vibrant and it’s lively—the perfect environment from which to launch our European operations,” he continued.
Wisler was just recently appointed his position. Meanwhile, SoftLayer expects more hiring in the near future.
Specifically, SoftLayer’s new data center in Amsterdam contains plenty of room. It’s capable of providing for over fifteen thousand servers.
SoftLayer has been making plenty of news lately concerning its expansion efforts. Just recently, data center solutions provider Digital Realty Trust announced that SoftLayer had signed a lease on one of their data center facilities in Singapore.
