Sony Announces PS4 1.60 Update Revealing 7.1 Surround Sound For PULSE Headsets and A New $99 Gold Wireless Headset(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – The next software update for the PS4 is now available for download, supporting the PULSE and PULSE-Elite Edition to PS4 wireless headsets.

The update, version 1.60, provides users with an “enhanced” 7.1 surround sound and voice chat.

“We know you’ve been patiently waiting for this update, which means PS4 owners will now be able to enjoy an enhanced gaming experience with 7.1 virtual surround sound and crystal clear voice chat with our official PlayStation headsets,” states the PlayStation blog. “PlayStation headsets are created for PlayStation gamers, by gamers – and designed to truly provide the audio that game developers intended. It’s truly how games were meant to sound.”

Additionally, Sony announced the new Gold Wireless Headset, which gives users 7.1 virtual surround sound, hidden noise cancelling microphone for voice chat, customizable faceplates, and custom audio modes specifically for PS games.

The $99 headset will be available in early February and is compatible with the PS4, PS3, PS Vita, mobile devices, and computers.

Both headsets, Gold and PULSE- Elite Edition, will be available to use on the free Headset Companion App, launching in February on the PlayStation Store.
