(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Sony on Wednesday unveiled the latest smartphone in its Xperia line: The Xperia Z1 – a slim Android-based waterproof device that features a 27mm wide angle and F2.0 aperture camera.
The lens is based on Sony’s G Lens.
“Xperia Z1 represents a significant milestone for Sony in our continued efforts to deliver unforgettable experiences to our consumers,” commented Sony Mobile Communications CEO Kunimasa Suzuki in a press release. “Not only by bringing the power of Sony to the smartphone and through close collaboration with our partners but by setting a new standard in premium smartphones.”
Other features of the Z1 include powering from a Snapdragon 800 processor, a 2.2GHz quad-core CPU and 4G LTE.
The Z1 also features compatibility with Sony’s recently unveiled SmartWatch 2 – a device which provides a “second screen” for the phone, as Sony describes. Through Smartwatch 2, users can perform tasks such as viewing notifications, reading messages and taking calls.
The Sony Xperia Z1 is expected to launch sometime later this month.
