(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – SpaceClaim, the leading provider of fast and intuitive 3D modeling software for engineers, announced the immediate availability of 2014 Service Pack 1 that includes two new tools for SpaceClaim Engineer 2014: LiveReview, SpaceClaim’s cloud-enabled live 3D collaboration system, formerly codenamed “Connect”; and a new STL Prep for 3D Printing module.
LiveReview provides a secure session where more than one user can engage and contribute simultaneously to editing a model in real time. SpaceClaim’s LiveReview extends SpaceClaim Engineer’s intuitive interface, interoperability, and speed into a hosted session, accessible through any WebGL-capable browser on a computer or mobile device. Even engineers without any 3D modeling software can actively review, edit or model live online. Every SpaceClaim customer currently on active subscription will have early access to LiveReview for six months beginning today.
STL Prep for 3D Printing module prepares models for 3D printing efficiently and easily by offering a set of tools to repair printing problems and to modify STL and CAD files, as easily as if they were created natively or imported. Engineers can use the module to check for and repair water-tightness and intersections, to shell models to save on material, and to create connecting features in order to combine parts of a model after printing. STL Prep for 3D Printing also works with OBJ, CGR, and AMF file formats. STL Prep is an add-on module to SpaceClaim Engineer.
“We continue to deliver against our goal to make 3D geometry editing accessible to all engineers,” said Chris Randles, SpaceClaim CEO. “LiveReview and STL Prep for 3D Printing are unique solutions that reinforce SpaceClaim’s position as the most innovative company and the leader in the mechanical design space.”
Early access to SpaceClaim LiveReview will be provided with the service pack. An annual subscription to LiveReview will be available for $500 when the early access period ends. The STL Prep for 3D Printing module is available today from SpaceClaim resellers and partners.
