Spotify Integrates Apps into Music Service

(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) –Spotify is on the move. Since the streaming music service’s US launch in July, the platform’s popularity has increased, and the company shows no signs of slowing down just yet.

On Wednesday, the company announced that it has opened the music service to apps.

Commenting on their blog, the company stated, “Spotify Apps are a bunch of cool, exciting and integrated apps inside Spotify, created by some of the best and brightest in the world. Each app brings you a new music experience tailored to you.”

Current ones available through the service include TuneWiki, an app that allows the user to view the lyrics of a track they’re listening to, and ones pertaining to music reviews.

Overall, the move signals Spotify as an open platform for developers. According to a report by PC Magazine, the app system will rely on HTML5 and use JavaScript to connect the apps with the music platform’s library.

Meanwhile, the music service says the current available apps are “only the beginning.” For more information on the matter, view a blog post by Spotify here (
