(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Sprint is in the process of laying off an undisclosed number of employees as a way to save money and “become more competitive in the marketplace.”
According to Bloomberg, Sprint began cutting employees on September 30th and plans to complete the process by October 31st.
“The plan is expected to include steps to, among other things, improve operational efficiencies and reduce costs, as a result of which the company expects to incur material charges under generally accepted accounting principles,” stated Sprint’s filing. “This planned reduction is expected to be largely completed by Oct. 31, 2014, and will include certain management and non-management positions.”
Though the number of employees being cut was not revealed, a Sprint spokesman did note that employees in IT, network, and technology groups in the Network Vision upgrade will be affected.
“Since Network Vision is largely complete, we are staffing accordingly,” said the spokesman. “We are still working through the details so exact numbers and locations are not available at this time,”
