(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Although released just earlier this month, Undead Labs is already planning a sequel for its groudbreaking open world zombie horror State of Decay.
However, according to a report from Eurogamer on Tuesday, the MMO-styled sequel known as “Class4” is facing a setback after negotiations between the developer and Microsoft continue.
“We cannot begin working on Class4 without a greenlight from Microsoft (who owns the IP, as part of the bargain that led to the funding and development of State of Decay) and a mutually agreeable contract,” stated Undead Labs community director Sanya Weathers
So what’s the hang up? “We have to agree on where we think the technology is going to be in a few years (since the game will take a few years to develop); we have to agree that we have the same goals; and we have to agree on how we’ll collectively run and support the final game,” Weathers went on to say.
State of Decay has sparked recorded sales on XBLA (Xbox Live Arcade), placing it up there with Minecraft. Recently, Undead signaled that Title Update 1 for the title was undergoing Microsoft’s authorization process.
