(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Watch out Minecraft for Xbox, your sales record could be facing a challenge. Game developer Undead Lab on Friday detailed Xbox Live Arcade sales for its recently made available title, State of Decay.
They were impressive to say the least – bringing in a quarter million copies as of Friday.
The open world zombie horror has received super positive reviews since being launched Wednesday.
Undead Lab research Sanya took time to thank those that made the feat possible. “This was you. We did not have an ad budget. We didn’t have a physical copy to load onto shelves, no worldwide multimedia push, no studio reputation with millions of followers. All we had was what we believed was a great game and a great community. And make no mistake, a solid game is not enough, not in 2013. Plenty of great games wither away in obscurity. This train got rolling because you got out and pushed,” she stated via a blog post.
The developer recently detailed Title Update 1 shortly after the release, something that makes it possible for playable characters to “no longer be killed by the stimulation,” among other features (You can find the full list here).
Meanwhile, Undead Labs signaled it had set its sights on an even bigger obstacle: Breaking XBLA’s all time sales record which currently stands at six million.
