(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – Police in Essex, United Kingdom have taken a 19 year old man into custody on suspicion of being involved in the recent online breaches coordinated by hacking group LulzSec.
According to a report by Sky News, the FBI worked with UK police to track down and nab the suspect. However, British police have yet to definitively say that the suspect is involved with the group.
The suspect could face trial in the U.S. if it’s determined he was involved in the attacks, according to a correspondent for Sky News.
Despite the arrest, LulzSec posted on its Twitter, “Seems the glorious leader of LulzSec got arrested,” the group wrote on its Twitter account. “It all over now. Wait, we’re all still here! Which poor bastard did they take down?”
LulzSec mostly uses DDoS attacks to breach its targets. The group has been motivated in the past by the U.S. government’s anti-WikiLeaks stance.
Recently, LulzSec has taken responsibility for breaches of sites such as the CIA, Sony, PBS, Nintendo, and an FBI affiliate.
