Tech Highlights Black Friday Sales

(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – For many people, the day following Thanksgiving is the best time to get great deals on the products they’re looking for, whether they’re shopping for themselves or stocking up on Christmas gifts.

This year, the tech industry formed a large presence on the busy sales day and notable discounts from companies included sales on various electronic devices such as laptops, televisions, and more.

And while not all products were discounted, retailers still experienced higher than average sales for many products overall.

Amazon’s Kindle line was no exception. Today the online retailer giant revealed that its Kindle tablet line had experienced its “best ever” Black Friday.

Of course, the line was helped with a price restructuring and the introduction of the company’s Kindle Fire tablet computer just around two months ago.

Amazon’s Kindle tablet line has been popular since its introduction in 2007. While Kindle emphasizes its e-reading use, the new Kindle Fire is the first in the line to offer various features such as internet browsing, video playing, and more.

Commenting on the high sales in a press release, Amazon Kindle VP Dave Limp stated, “Even before the busy holiday shopping weekend, we’d already sold millions of the new Kindle family and Kindle Fire was the bestselling product across all of Amazon.com.”

“Black Friday was the best ever for the Kindle family – customers purchased 4X as many Kindle devices as they did last Black Friday – and last year was a great year,” he continued.

Amazon’s Kindle Fire sells for just under $200.

And while the Kindle line saw increased sales on Black Friday, it wasn’t the only tech device making headlines. Electronics giant Apple offered discount prices on the iPad 2, iPod touch, and its Macbook Pro and Air laptops through its website.

Overall, digital analysis company comScore found a 26 percent increase in online sales as compared to the same time last year.

While Black Friday is done, the sales continue. In fact, today marks Cyber Monday, a day when even more online retailers offer great deals on various products. That being said, best of luck shopping!
