(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – Not surprisingly, the patent battle is continuing between Taiwanese-based mobile manufacturer HTC and Apple. However, this time, it’s not Apple suing HTC. Instead, it’s the other way around.
According to a Reuters report, HTC has filed a lawsuit against Apple related to the company’s top products. Besides seeking monetary compensation, HTC also wants an injunction against Apple sales related to what they consider patent violations.
The development is a turn of events for the companies as Apple has been the one doing most of the suing. Just last month, in a preliminary ruling, the U.S. International Trade Commission determined that HTC violated Apple patent rights. Some of the patents were related to touch screen capability. Meanwhile, Apple has filed a second patent complaint, which the Commission plans to review as well.
The move follows Google’s recent acquisition of Motorola Mobility, giving Google a mobile device manufacturing platform along with patents. To view the report by Reuters, visit: http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/08/16/us-apple-htc-idUSTRE77F38E20110816
