(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Not many details have been released regarding the planned launch of The Sims 4, a title EA and Maxis announced just earlier this month. However, we have been able to round up a few small details and here’s what we do know:
–Release – It’s coming sometime this year for platforms including PC and Mac. If you asked us, we’d have to guess in time for the holiday season.
–It’s Single Player, Offline – EA and Maxis are sticking to the series’ original gameplay; perhaps avoiding problems encountered with SimCity’s always-online model. It’s a proven game mode for the storied franchise. Besides, when launched back in 2002, The Sims Online wasn’t necessarily a big hit.
–“A Deeper Connection” – Via a blog post, EA had this to say about The Sims 4: “The Sims 4 celebrates the heart and soul of the Sims themselves, giving players a deeper connection with the most expressive, surprising and charming Sims ever in this single-player offline experience.”
–More Personlization – There’s really no surprise here. EA has signaled new features will add more personalization to the world of the Sims. “The Sims 4 encourages players to personalize their world with new and intuitive tools while offering them the ability to effortlessly share their creativity with friends and fans,” EA stated via a blog post.
–The Sims 3 Isn’t Done Yet – The Sims 4 may have already been announced but that doesn’t mean EA is giving up on the title’s predecessor just yet. The Sims 3 Island Paradise, an expansion, will make a splash on June 25th.
–Sign up for more info – We’re expecting more information regarding The Sims 4 quite soon. However, to hear it first, EA wants you to subscribe to a newsletter. If interested, you can do so here (thesims.com).
