(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – .Pro domain operator RegistryPro was recently acquired by ICANN approved .info domain operator Afilias Limited.
The move was announced Tuesday.
“I am excited that the .PRO domain will soon be able to take advantage of Afilias’ market-leading registry services platform to give .PRO customers the best possible service. In the meantime, we’ll be operating on a business-as-usual basis until the migration plan is complete,” stated RegistryPRO President Karim Jiwani in a press release.
Jiwani also stressed that the move gives the .pro TLD the ability to benefit from the company’s “market-leading registry services platform.”
With the addition of the .pro TLD, Afilias now administers a total of seventeen top level domains for registration including .info, .org, .mobi and country TLDs such as .IN, .BZ, and .MN.
Aside from offering TLD registration, Afilias also provides DNS. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed in a press release concerning the matter.
Just last week, RegistryPRO announced the auctioning of .pro domains such as 3D.pro, 1.pro and more. The event was administered through top domain and web host Go Daddy. For more information concerning RegistryPro’s acquisition by Afilias, view a press release here (afilias.info).
