(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – A vulnerability for Tumblr iPhone and iPad apps has led the popular blogging network to release an important update.
In a blog post, Tumblr VP of Product Derek Gottfrid noted an issue “allowed passwords to be compromised in certain circumstances.”
The company, meanwhile, has asked that users update their account passwords in addition to recommending the use of password-based apps including LastPass and 1Password.
Tumblr was purchased for $1.1 by Yahoo! in May. In November of last year, a survey from Netcraft.com showed that the blogging site was the world’s tenth largest web host.
