(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) –Twitter now has a friend in the Linux community. According to a report from Tech Crunch, the social site recently joined the Linux Foundation, a nonprofit emphasizing support for the OS.
Twitter is among other top tech names that already include IBM, Samsung, Intel, AMD, Google and Parallels.
So why join? The nonprofit platform allows members to discuss Linux’s future and the organization itself provides a neutral voice for the popular open source OS. Linux remains popular. In the web hosting community, the OS is especially renown for the operation of web servers.
The Linux Foundation is also notable for being behind Linux.com and hosts LinuxCon, an drawing attendance from developers throughout the community. LinuxCon 2012 will kick off this Wednesday in San Diego, California.
