Unlocked iPhone 5 Could be on the Way for U.S. Market

(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Don’t like having to keep your iPhone specific to one wireless carrier? Well, good news could be on the way. According to a Sunday report from Apple Insider, prices for an unlocked iPhone 5 recently appeared on the Cupertino-based company’s website.

The iPhone 5 isn’t presently cross compatible with other wireless carriers minus a CDMA one carried by Verizon.

The unlocked versions found in Apple.com’s search results range in prices between $649.00 and $849.00, according to a screenshot appearing on Apple Insider.

Unlocked iPhones are currently available in Canada. The popular smartphone was initially released in late September.
