(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – HP’s recent announcement that they’d discontinue the TouchPad and their phones based on mobile operating system webOS brought into question webOS’s future.
HP has stated that they would “continue to explore options to optimize the value of webOS software going forward.” Reports have also indicated that HP is looking at licensing the mobile OS.
However, the latest development brings news that there’s a big “no” coming from one tech giant. According to a report by Bloomberg, at a conference in Berlin, Samsung CEO Choi Gee Sung recently indicated that his company would “never” use webOS.
So, the speculation surrounding the OS’s future is quite fascinating (For example, Does it even have one? Will anyone jump at webOS?)
Meanwhile, HP recently announced that it was manufacturing one last round of HP TouchPads for the market. Since HP announced discontinuation of the device, sales have been high due to many retailers dropping the tablet’s price to around $99 dollars.
