(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Microsoft officially announced the $2.5 billion acquisition of Minecraft developer Mojang today, leaving many fans wondering what will happen to all other platforms now that Microsoft has taken over.
According to both Mojang and Microsoft, all versions of Minecraft will not be affected by the purchase, including DLC patches.
“There’s no reason for the development, sales, and support of the PC/Mac, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, Vita, iOS, and Android versions of Minecraft to stop,” said Mojang via blog post. “Of course, Microsoft can’t make decisions for other companies or predict the choices that they might make in the future.”
As for players abilities to continue making videos and mods, the developer says that the game will “continue to evolve,” thought they “don’t know specific plans for Minecraft’s future yet.”
