(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Wikipedia on lockdown? That was the case for particular articles on the site pertaining to high profile Republican politicians including presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney.
The action occurred after Comedy Central comedian Stephen Colbert urged his viewers to edit pages on the site, according to a report from the BBC. However, the ability to edit Romney is still available in some regard. Users are just now required to have identified Wikipedia accounts.
Also included in the article edit lockdown are possible Romney running mates such as Florida Senator Marco Rubio and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
The BBC news story noted that articles are locked down on the site as indicated by a padlock icon appearing on the pages. On Thursday, a post on the New York Times blog The Caucus asked questioned if an increase in article editing on Wikipedia could indicate who Romney would eventually pick as his running mate.
