(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Windows 8 doesn’t have a fan in one particular influential gaming developer. On Thursday, Minecraft creator Markus Persson excoriated the upcoming OS after receiving a message from the Windows maker.
“Got an email from microsoft, wanting to help “certify” minecraft for win 8. I told them to stop trying to ruin the pc as an open platform,” said Persson via his Twitter account.
And the criticism didn’t end there. Persson followed up his initial Tweet with an even more scathing assessment. “I’d rather have minecraft not run on win 8 at all than to play along. Maybe we can convince a few people not to switch to win 8 that way..,” he continued.
Windows 8 is expected to receive a product release on October 26 and notably introduces a new interface to the Windows start area.
Minecraft has become increasingly popular in the past year. The game itself covers a unique genre, allowing players to survive in a 3D-pixelated world by gathering resources, constructing shelters and fending off monsters.
