(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – On Thursday, web hosting provider Rackspace Hosting made a considerable investment in SharePoint by acquiring a company that specializes in the area.
SharePoint consulting company SharePoint911 becomes part of Rackspace, providing the hosting provider with services that include administrator support, site planning and design, project management and more.
The acquisition of SharePoint911 expands on a commitment to the web application platform previously made by Rackspace nearly three years ago.
“For several years, Rackspace has focused on providing managed SharePoint infrastructure,” stated Rackspace CTO John Engates in a press release. Engates went on to say his company was “thrilled” by the move, stating it would give Rackspace “greater application delivery service capabilities.”
As a web hosting company, Rackspace’s solutions include cloud, colocation, websites, SaaS applications, email hosting and more.
The acquisition of SharePoint911 follows a November move by the company in which Rackspace unveiled an upgrade to its hybrid hosting solution RackConnect. For more information regarding the acquisition by Rackspace, view a press release by the company here (Rackspace.com).
