Wither Waits: Minecraft’s ‘Pretty Scary Update’ Pushed to Thurs

(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) –Mojang found itself delaying version 1.4.1 of Minecraft by one day after the game developer discovered what it described as a “big issue causing mobs to suffocate and fall through wooden floors.”

The company did, however, make a pre-release of the version available geared towards server admins and modders. Among the tweaks are font fixes, making bats spawn less frequently, a fix of player glitching through beacons, the activation of Wither painting, a reworking of costs in the Anvil and more.

Minecraft version 1.4.1 has received the moniker the “Pretty Scary Update” as it falls during the Halloween season. Version 1.4.1 of the popular title is expected to bring sweeping changes including the introduction of moss mob Wither, a three-headed ghostly figure

“Wither and his army of minions, scary zombies that infect you, scary bats, scary witches, and tougher AI will all be included. Then there’s beacons, carrots on sticks, controllable pigs, carrots, potatoes, pumpkin pie, anvils and – perhaps the scariest thing we’ve ever put in Minecraft – FLOWER POTS. Oh man. Expect bug fixes and tweaks aplenty,” commented Mojang through a blog post yesterday.

The game has become increasingly popular within the past years, allowing users to survive in a 3D-pixelated world by harvesting resources, constructing shelters and fighting off monsters.
