WordPress.com Unveils WordAds

(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – Google’s AdSense may be one of the most popular platforms for small website owners to earn cash online. The service allows users to profit by placing Google sponsored ads on their sites.

However, WordPress.com bloggers can now get a similar offering.

Posting on the official site blog, WordPress.com’s Jon Burke revealed WordAds, an advertisement platform made available by a partnership with publishing company Federated Media.

The company says that users need a custom domain (hosted through WordPress.com) to qualify for advertisements.

Detailing the qualification process, WordPress.com stated, “Selection will be based on level of traffic and engagement, type of content, and language used on a blog.”

WordPress.com hosts free user blogs and is separate from the open source WordPress software available through WordPress.org. In July, the site revealed that it had reached more than fifty million blogs. For more information on the matter, visit:  http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2011/11/29/wordads/
