(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – While there were many jaw-dropping features highlighted by Apple with iOS 7 yesterday, one of the most useful has to do with something we all worry about: security.
With iOS 7, Apple has worked to implement a new activation lock, making it easier than ever to guard against theft and keep your beloved iPhone safe.
When the iPhone is locked and lost, interestingly enough, you can have it display a message reading, “This iPhone has been lost. Please call me. (XXX) XXX-XXXX.”
Meanwhile, when and if (hopefully when) your iPhone makes it back to you, you can easily enter your Apple ID login info to get things back to normal.
Here’s what Apple had to say regarding the issue via its website: “Now turning off Find My iPhone or erasing your device requires your Apple ID and password. Find My iPhone can also continue to display a custom message, even after your device is erased. And your Apple ID and password are required before anyone can reactivate it. Which means your iPhone is still your iPhone. No matter where it is.”
iOS 7 is expected to arrive sometime this fall. Apple CEO Tim Cook recently referred to it as the “biggest change to iOS since the introduction of iPhone.”
