(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – In the latest case of cloud outages, users of popular gaming console Xbox 360 were sure dismayed when the platform’s Cloud Saved Games service became inaccessible.
However, Microsoft announced that the service had returned to normalcy New Year’s Eve despite downtime during the weekend.
Xbox Cloud Saved Games allows game users to save up to 514 megabytes via Microsoft services via the cloud.
But there’s good news from the downtime – free availability is on the way. “We will be automatically applying a one-month extension to the Xbox LIVE Gold memberships of everyone who was impacted. We can assure you we’ll also be doing a thorough post mortem to help prevent this from happening again,” commented Xbox Live GM Alex Garden in a blog post.
Microsoft is highly expected by some industry analysts to follow up the 360 with a new console release sometime within the new year.
