(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Mark your calendars, guys. May 21st is likely Microsoft’s big unveil date for the new Xbox.
“On Tuesday May 21st, we’ll mark the beginning of a new generation of games, TV and entertainment. On that day, we’ll be holding a special press event on the Xbox campus and we invite you to join us via the live global stream that will be available on Xbox LIVE and Xbox.com. If you are in the US or Canada, you can also watch the broadcast on Spike TV,” stated a blog post via official Xbox website Major Nelson in April.
Meanwhile, further details will be rolled out during June’s E3 gaming conference.
While there’s plenty of speculation regarding the console’s name (Durango, Infinity, Fuse, 720…the list probably goes on), we’re more interested in the device’s actual specs along with release date and pricing.
According to a report from The Mirror, what’s described as a “leaked document” from Microsoft pointed out a suggested price tag of £190 (that’s $290.30 USD if you’re wondering), but it’s likely the device will go for more.
As for the release date, let’s just say that in time for the holiday season is a sure bet.
As for the tech specs? A report from VGLeaks.com shed some possible light on that in February. “The Durango CPU is structured as two modules. A module contains four x64 cores, each running a single thread at 1.6 GHz. Each core contains a 32 KB instruction cache (I-cache) and a 32 KB data cache (D-cache), and the 4 cores in each module share a 2 MB level 2 (L2) cache. In total, the modules have 8 hardware threads and 4 MB of L2. The architecture is little-endian,” states the report from VGLeaks.com,” stated the article.
We’re also expecting a more powerful Kinect.
Meanwhile, just a friendly reminder: The big unveil is only about 7 days away now. Ease down on the speculation, you’ll be in the know before you know it.
