Xbox One & PS4 Likely Won’t Undergo Price-Slashing Knife Until 2016

Xbox One & PS4 Likely Won't Undergo Price-Slashing Knife Until 2016(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Game fans looking for sales discounts on consoles such as the Xbox One and PS4 are just going to have to wait a while. According to a report from CNET on Tuesday, analysis insight signals that the consoles won’t go under the price-slashing knife just yet.

“The two new consoles will likely not have official price drops until spring 2015, at the earliest,” stated game industry analyst and Gamasutra writer Matt Matthews via the CNET report.

Both the Xbox One and PS4 were released just this month and are competing head to head for success during the highly important holiday season.

CNET also pointed out that the price cut prediction falls in line with historical trends. For example, the Xbox 360, which was originally launched back in November of 2005, didn’t see a price cut until August of 2007. On the other hand, Sony finally discounted its PS2 about a year and a half after its initial release.

Xbox One currently retailed for $499 USD while the PS4 retails for $399.
