(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Microsoft is planning to expand its services by adding original television shows that will launch on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
According to Polygon, Microsoft is planning to release TV shows on the Xbox consoles in the first quarter of 2014, at minimum second quarter.
“We aren’t Netflix, we aren’t Amazon, we’re a different animal,” stated Nancy Tellem, entertainment and digital media president of Microsoft.
A TV show based on the Halo series is set to be in the works, with Steven Spielberg directing the live-action series.
Although the company is said to be having difficulty closing deals on television content due to confusion on how the console based television will work, Microsoft expects to have more titles following the launch, continues Polygon’s report.
Since its release on November 22nd, the Xbox One has sold over two million consoles.
