(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – “You’ve got mail!” You might remember that popular tone from the early days of the Internet when one Internet service provider reigned dominant.
Today we all benefit from the advantages of email. Unfortunately, you could be paying for it too if you’re an unsuspecting customer of Internet provider AOL (formerly referred to as America Online).
Just recently, a report from website azfamily.com indicated that one AOL customer was still paying an additional fee for her AOL email account. That’s despite the fact that the Internet provider apparently dropped charges for using AOL email all the way back in 2006.
Longtime AOL customer Traci Casale originally became a customer of the Internet provider quite a long time ago, initially using the company’s dial up internet service.
Casale eventually converted to using the company’s high speed offering. However, upon recently examining her bill she noticed she was still receiving a $14.95 monthly fee for using the AOL email account. She eventually cancelled her service with the company.
AOL has faced a continued decline in profits since the early 2000’s. The company has also attracted controversy in the past regarding its billing practices. To view the report by azfamily.com, visit: http://www.azfamily.com/news/consumer/AOL-users-still-being-billed-for-free-email-136623123.html
